Backyard 7-16-2011

From Google+ post (plus.google.com/101043874803367853303/posts/EvW6dSXsEh5):
Took some shots in the backyard. More tests with the hacked GH1 running at 40Mbps biterate and 1/50 sec shutter speed. Used the Minolta 50mm MD Rokkor lens with a ND filter attached. Rendered to 1080p 24p using h264. The rendered footage came out to around 19Mbps.

From Google+ post: plus.google.com/101043874803367853303/posts/Ynft1oS74vm

Test with a hacked GH1 at 40Mbps FHD mode - AVCHD 1920x1080 24p (interlaced) dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?219132-40Mbps-AVCHD-High-Reliability-Patch. Used a Minolta MD Rokkor 50mm lens with a ND filter. Set color to dynamic. Rendered to h264 with 2.35:1 aspect ratio (1920x817 24p). Besides cropping, straight from the camera. 14 minutes clip sped up 20x. Exposed too low. I need more practice.

This was a good exercise in workflow with FCPX. It was really a pain to figure out how to render to 1920x817 and frame it right. Used Compressor to do the cropping. I may try using this first next time andyyoong.com/download-fcpx-filters/ and see if I can figure out how to send to Compressor using that letterbox filter. I did it this way bradbell.tv/filmmaking/fcpx-hdslr-shooting-editing-cinemascope/ and messed with the numbers in the geometry settings.
